Go Ahead, Make a Wish... by torsoboyprints Go Ahead, Make a Wish... by torsoboyprints
Hey guys, I've received several print requests for this thing. I've had it as a print in my shop for quite some time now, so please drop by and check it out! [link]

The image is 6'9" tall on canvas that's about 7'4" tall. Relief print with screened color and painted color (blue). This is part of my ongoing undergraduate print series that deals with the issues that children's stories/TV programs don't address. The overall notion here is that most children's programming consists of promoting good habits, good morals, good good good. However, in order for something to be understood as "good," there has to be something bad for it to contrast with. this particular print somewhat deviates from that because I simply wanted to exaggerate the "bear" part of the Care Bears.

2009 David Reimer. Do not use without permission.

Just wanted to pop in and tell every one BIG THANK YOU for making this such a popular print! It's currently the most popular woodblock print on DeviantArt, and currently in the #3 spot as most popular print on DeviantArt. It couldn't have achieved that (plus that Daily Deviation) without you all. So thanks! (6/16/11)

Go Ahead, Make a Wish... by ~torsoboyprints is a bear-sized print that takes the "care" out of the CareBears for a second look at children's icons. Grrreat! ( Featured by stigmatattoo )

I'm always amazed at prints this size. Was going to ask how you pulled it but I see you've already answered that below. :) Fantastic!! What type of wood were you carving on?

Why couldn't they have made care bears look like this? This is much cuter.

Are you the original artist of this particular drawing, not just the screen printing? If so, it's awesome!

Mind if I use it as my Facebook pic, if I give you full credit? :)

I am the artist. But this is not a screenprint or a drawing. It's a woodblock relief print. It has screenprinted color, but only in some sections.

Is someone else making screenprints of this? If so, please tell me about it.

No no, I just saw it in a message board thread about cartoon characters drawn in different styles. I tried to find the artist (you :)) just using Google and had no luck, then came here and poof, there you were!

I was just wanting to ask if I could use the image as my Facebook picture if I give you full credit. ;) If not, that's fine.

Oh ok. I worry because I keep hearing about it popping up on 4chan and MySpace and people taking credit for it. So I get kind of ansy about it.

Sure you can use it as your facebook photo so long as you give credit.

I had various large tables available for use whenever I was working on it. The block was only 6'9" tall by about 3.5' wide, which is about the size of our studio tables.
